Final exam_part#2

Part#2 It is the year 2025. Now I am working at English kindergarten. I also tutor as a second job. I have different teaching ways between kindergarten and tutoring. I place emphasis on making the natural environment that children are exposed English. Children’s language acquisition ability is better than adult. To maximize their ability, I offer some situations that they can learn English naturally. In school, Grammar Teaching Method and audio-lingual teaching method are still used today. So I try to use Communicative Language Teaching method in my class. There are various components of Communicative Language Teaching. One of them is spontaneous use of language. I think it is the most important component of CLT when we learn language. And in my class, children are using –pad(like iPad). It makes to attract children. Children can use it in creative ways without being taught. It is like SOLE(self organized learning English). When I have taken the TESOL, the most memorable video is Jessica’s daily affirmation video. It is about self-efficacy. Self-efficacy predicts achievement, learning, self-regulation, and motivation. And I think it also be able to have confidence. Motivation is the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way. Before starting my class, to have motivation and confidence, children and I say, “I love English! I like my English class! I am a good student/teacher! I can do everything!” something like that. When I see them who are doing self-efficacy, I have intrinsic motivation for teaching. We do self-efficacy everyday so I can avoid burnout as a teacher. As I mentioned, I have a second job. It is an English tutor for middle school and high school students, not young children. I think middle school and high school students need more systematical teaching ways. Unfortunately, test is still important in Korea. So I am tutoring school class contents. At first, I use flip teaching for preview their school class contents. Here is how it is happening for real: kids watch lectures and video at home, class is for hands-on work and face to face interaction with teacher/peers. This method was such a booming topic in education. However, just a few schools using this method in Korea, almost school still use Grammar Teaching Method like only lecture for test. I am using not only flip teaching but also learning style in my tutor. It is not how smart you are that matters, what really counts are how you are smart. All human begins have multiple intelligences. It is learning styles. Actually, it is hard to apply in school, because there are too many students who have different learning styles. But tutoring is one to one system. Now I know and understand my student’s own learning style and I am teaching the perfect way to my student. I am using some teaching ways that I have learned in TESOL program. And furthermore, I will make my own teaching way.
